Through the years we have seen various personifications of the devil or satan – the little red devil with pointed tail and pitchfork; a man in a suit; a person with a hood, so you can’t see the face; a red dragon; and a hideous demonic creature. The last two are actually the most accurate. Contrary to popular belief, the devil/satan is real and he is actively destroying lives here on earth.
The devil/satan was originally known as Lucifer. He was a magnificent angel who was in the throne room of heaven. The Bible book of Ezekiel says that Lucifer was the “model of perfection, full of wisdom and exquisite beauty.” His clothing was covered with precious stones set in pure gold. He was an anointed as a mighty angelic guardian. He was blameless in all he did, until the day evil was found in him. On that day, Lucifer led 1/3 of the angels in rebellion against God. The archangel, Michael and the rest of the angels defeated Lucifer and cast him down to earth.
It’s quite possible that Lucifer was supposed to be a mighty guardian of mankind, but was envious of the attention we received from God. It may have been why he decided to rebel against God and why he hates mankind so much that his every thought is how to steal, kill, and destroy.
The difficult part for all of us is that we can’t see him or any of his fallen angels (demons), but they are as real as God and the heavenly angels. They are at work in the heavenly realm manipulating mankind, just as satan did in the Garden of Eden, when he convinced Eve that gaining knowledge of good and evil would be good. God never wanted mankind to know about evil or have to deal with it. Since that time, the devil has been trying to either convince mankind that he doesn’t exist or that he’s a harmless character.
We are seeing a great example of this in a movement across America, by the Satanic Temple to establish after school clubs in elementary schools. They are saying that since there are already Christian after school groups, it would be good for the kids to know about the other options. In other words, the kids are already learning about a loving God, but they should also know about evil. The Satanic Temple has even created a very hip looking cartoon character:
As in the garden, they are attempting to deceive the teachers, school administrators, and parents and eventually our kids, who are the future leaders of our country. Jesus referred to satan as the father of lies and that everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie. This isn’t something we can stand by and hope it goes away. How many kids will have their lives destroyed by those lies.
Here is a full report on the After School Satan program:
As true disciples, we need to be praying against this movement and for the teachers, administrators and parents to reject this plan. Then we need to be praying fervently for our kids, because satan has launched an all-out attempt to capture an entire generation.
The good news is that God is always more powerful than satan; the devil is a defeated foe, who will one day be thrown into the lake of fire by Jesus; and He that is in us, is greater than he that is in the world!
