We Need to Pray

Our world is a mess and we’re in the middle of a very interesting election here in the U.S. If there was ever a time that all Christians needed to be praying in unity, it’s now.

There were a number of times, after God delivered the Israelites from bondage, when He wanted to destroy them all and Moses’ prayers kept God’s wrath at bay. We know that the blood of Jesus does that now, so we don’t have to be concerned about God’s wrath, but we still have to deal with satan’s rampage against mankind and man’s fleshly, self-focused desires.

God will not move against man’s free will, but He will guide non-believers through circumstances and believers through the prompting of the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we need to be praying for our country, political and business leaders, police officers, firefighters, and medical personnel.

Pray first, that if they already a follower of Jesus, that they would let His light shine brightly through their lives (and not hide it under a bushel basket). Second, that they would seek the Lord for every decision. Third, that they would be bold in their faith.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT) says, “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”

There are several keys to the healing of our land. First, we, those who are called by His name, need to humble ourselves. We need to remember who He is and recapture the reverential fear of the Lord.

Second, we need to pray and seek His face. It was said that Moses knew God, but the Israelites just knew about God. We need to know God in an intimate way.

Third, we need to turn from our wicked ways. There is still way too much sin in the church – sexual immorality, impurity, debauchery, idolatry (money and things), discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissention, envy, drunkenness, gossip, lying, stealing, and more. All of those sins are covered by the blood of Jesus, so I’m not talking about salvation, rather I’m talking about our relationship with God. We’ve got to get our act cleaned up. Jesus is returning for a spotless bride.

When we get rid of the sin in our life, we have a clearer path in our prayer life, because satan has nothing against us. Then, God will hear from heaven, forgive the sins of our nation, and restore/heal our land.

As a true disciple in the making, it’s imperative that you begin to operate according to 2 Chronicles 7:14, so that our land can be healed and once again, we can live in a Christ-focused nation. I know this seems impossible, but all things are possible with God! So, start praying daily.
